There are two compliance modes:

• VeriFactu Systems (voluntary submission). Issued invoices are voluntarily and automatically sent to the Tax Agency at the moment they are generated.
  Invoices issued under this mode will include the explicit mention VeriFactu*.
• Non-VeriFactu Systems (submission upon request). Invoices meet all required standards, but they are not automatically sent to the Tax Agency.
  All records must be stored in the system and submitted to the Tax Agency only if requested.

In short, the choice between the VeriFactu or Non-VeriFactu system depends on the level of automation and control each professional or company prefers. Both options comply with the regulations, but the VeriFactu mode offers a higher degree of transparency and process simplification, while the Non-VeriFactu mode keeps internal management of the records.
