To obtain your reference number for your income tax return and to be able to prepare the draft and submit it, you must first identify yourself.
Here’s how to find the required information on your NIE:
- Enter your NIE number (letter, 7 digits, and a letter, with no spaces or hyphens).
- Enter your support number. This number can be found in different places depending on the type of document you have:
- European Union citizens: the support number is located on the back of your card. It is an 8-digit code, but if it has fewer than 8 digits, you must add a leading 0 and always include a “C” at the beginning.
Example: 9999999
Support number: C09999999
- If you do not have a support number or have another type of document: you can fill in the support number field with a “C” followed by 8 zeros: C00000000. In this case, you will also need to provide your date of birth to continue.
- If your document is a TIE (Foreigner Identity Card), the support number is located in the top right corner and is an 8-digit code that begins with the letter “E”.
