The digital certificate (also known as an electronic signature) is your official identification with the public administration. It's what lets you carry out your procedures electronically and access the public portals in your own name.
Xolo handles your filings and taxes with the Tax Agency. But there are things only you can do — like checking your notifications from the Tax Agency and Social Security, or dealing directly with the authorities — and for that you need your own means of electronic identification.
We recommend the digital certificate because it's the most versatile (you can also use Cl@ve or DNIe). You don't need to have it on day one, but it's best not to leave it for later: it's how you'll access those notifications. It takes about 30 minutes to set up.
How to request the digital certificate
Choose the option that matches your situation. We'll direct you to the website of the Spanish Royal Mint (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, FNMT) with the instructions to obtain it:
👉 I have an electronic DNI
👉 I don't have an electronic DNI
If you'd like to follow the process step by step, see our 👉 Guide to requesting your digital certificate.
What can I use the digital certificate for?
Among other things, it lets you:
- Check and manage your notifications from the Tax Agency and Social Security.
- File and pay taxes.
- Apply for aid and subsidies.
- Submit appeals and claims.
- Check and register on the municipal register (padrón).
- Check traffic fines and your assigned polling station.
- Electronically sign official documents and forms.
⚠️ We will never ask you for your digital certificate to carry out any procedure. Remember that it's for personal use and you should not share it with anyone.
