Can my Estonian company be a shareholder of another company?

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Yes. Under Estonian law, an Estonian company can generally be a shareholder of another company, whether that company is registered in Estonia or abroad, provided that it is a legitimate legal entity conducting transparent business activities.

However, due to the standardized nature of Xolo Leap’s service, certain limitations apply to investments made through your company.

With Xolo Leap, your company can invest in start-ups and other private companies provided that:

  • The investment is supported under an investment agreement outlining the parties involved, investment structure, financial terms, and other relevant details.
  • Your company receives a minority stake, typically no more than 20%, without controlling rights.
  • The company you invest in is registered in a country (excluded countries) where shareholder ownership details are publicly available.

For more information about other types of investments supported by Xolo, please see our FAQ HERE.

Please note: Investments in other companies are supported only under our Pro and Premium service plans.
