Important Dates

Last updated: November 18, 2025

The filing of the Income Tax Return must be done annually between early April and the end of June. It’s important to mark this period on your calendar, since any submission made after the deadline may result in penalties and surcharges from the Tax Agency.

The Spanish income tax calendar is generally structured as follows:

  • April: The period for submitting the tax return online through the Tax Agency’s portal opens. You can also request corrections or modify a previously submitted return.
  • May: In addition to online filing, you can submit your tax return in person at Tax Agency offices, with a prior appointment.
  • June: The income tax campaign usually ends at the end of this month (typically June 30). This is the last chance to file your return without incurring penalties.

For tax returns resulting in an amount due, you can split the payment into two parts: 60% when filing the return and the remaining 40% in November. There are also options for deferred payments in specific cases, such as justified financial hardship.
