Tax Information and Reference number for your Renta

Last updated: November 18, 2025

Tax information refers to the data that the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) has recorded about your income, deductions, assets, and family situation. This includes:

  • Employment income, pensions, and benefits.
  • Income from economic activities.
  • Income from movable and real estate capital.
  • Owned real estate properties.
  • Withholdings applied.

This information is used to prepare your Renta draft. Generally, only data from Spanish sources appear; however, over time, the Tax Agency has also collected data from foreign sources, which may occasionally appear in your tax information.

On the other hand, the reference number is a personal and temporary number provided by the Tax Agency to securely identify you and access your draft or tax information online. Key points about the reference code:

  • It is generated through the AEAT website or app.
  • It allows you to consult, confirm, and modify your tax information without the need for a digital certificate or Cl@ve PIN.
  • Its validity is limited, usually only for the current year’s tax campaign.
