My Renta draft says there is a discrepancy between my income and what the Tax Agency (AEAT or Hacienda) has on file. What does this mean?

Last updated: July 08, 2026

This means that the income figure listed on your Xolo draft doesn't exactly match the tax data on file with the Tax Agency (AEAT). The Tax Agency collects this information through reports from third parties (banks, platforms, and, above all, your own clients).

When the system detects a discrepancy, it doesn’t necessarily mean your Xolo draft is incorrect. The discrepancy may stem from several scenarios:

- Your Xolo draft is correct (the error is on a third party’s part): It’s very common for one of your clients to make a mistake when filling out their annual withholding tax returns and to report an incorrect amount under your tax ID number (NIF). In this case, your draft is correct, and you should file your tax return based on your actual invoices, not the erroneous data from the tax authorities.

- A temporary or recording discrepancy: An invoice issued at the end of the year that you or your client recorded in different quarters or tax years, or a simple transcription error on the platform.

- Income not reported to Xolo: Legitimate income that the tax authorities detect but that you do not manage through us, such as paychecks from a job as an employee, benefits, or income from abroad.

Why is it important to review this before filing?
If the discrepancy is due to an oversight or error in the draft, we must correct it. But if your draft is correct and the tax authority’s data is incorrect, filing your return with your actual information could result in the tax authority sending you a letter (notice) requesting an explanation.

Don’t worry: if this happens, you’ll be fully supported because we’ll submit the official records and invoices proving that your return is correct.
